10-Run Fifth Pushes Eagles Past Hardin-Simmons

Abilene, Texas-The Eagles scored ten runs in the fifth inning to earn a 11-2 win over Hardin-Simmons University Saturday and snap a seven-game losing skid.

Game two was suspended in the bottom of the sixth due to rain with Hardin-Simmons leading 9-2. The game will resume tomorrow, and game three of the American Southwest Conference series will follow afterwards.

In the win, the Eagles (7-21, 4-16 ASC) recorded nine hits in the fifth after holding a 1-0 lead heading into the inning. Sam Shook started things off with an RBI single to score Alex Smith. Grady Finley later had a two-run hit and Andrew Beck ripped a two-run triple to highlight the frame. Meanwhile John Singler cruised through seven innings walking only one and allowing just one earned run. He improved his record to 2-4.   
    
Hardin-Simmons falls to 8-20 overall and 4-14 in the ASC.
