Clark Steps Down As Baseball Coach, Will Remain Athletics Director

Clarksville, Ark.-Jimmy Clark will step down as the head U of O baseball coach, it was announced Monday by the university.

Clark will remain the university's athletics director, a position he has held since 2005.

Clark has been the head baseball coach since 2002. Under his guidance, three of Clark's teams have qualified for conference post-season play. He was named the 2005 American Southwest Conference East Division Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to their first winning season in nearly a decade. His 2005 team posted a school-record 32-11 mark and was the program's first nationally ranked team. He compiled a 228-334 record in his 14 years.

He has coached 68 All-Conference players, three All-Americans and another 89 on the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team. Nine of his players have been on the prestigious Academic All-District Team.

"I appreciate all the young men who have played for me and all the things they have done for the program and university," said Clark. "I have been blessed to coach a number of great guys. I feel like the program is in better shape now than when I inherited it. But because of the time demands as a head coach and an athletics director, I'm not doing the players or the team justice."
