Tina Moya Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

Clarksville, Ark.-Tina Moya was named the Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of the Ozarks, it was announced by Athletic Director Jimmy Clark Thursday.

Moya joins Head Athletic Trainer Chad Floyd to enhance the athletic training services available to more than 200 NCAA Division III student-athletes at Ozarks. Prior to Ozarks, Moya served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Arkansas Tech University during the 2014-2015 academic year. Moya was a Graduate Assistant at the University of West Florida (UWF) for two years. Additionally, she was the Head Athletic Trainer at Valencia High School in Los Luna, New Mexico, from 2010-2012. Moya has completed internships with The Asylum semi-pro women's soccer team, Winter X Games 13 and with Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports.

"We are excited to have more help for our 200-plus student-athletes," said Clark. "Our current athletic training staff has needed help for the last several year. This is a progressive step for our department and signifies the importance of athletics here. Tina has experience at a variety of levels with a number of different sports."

A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Moya was a clinical instructor at UWF and taught Sports Medicine and Health at Valencia High School. Moya is a licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Arkansas and is a National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certified Athletic Trainer. She holds professional membership in NATA.

"This is an example that proves Ozarks is serious about athletics," said Floyd. "We will be able to enhance the quality of health care provided to our student-athletes. Tina proved herself as a strong candidate and I look forward to having another experienced athletic training resource on hand."

Moya received her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of New Mexico in 2009. She received her master's degree in Exercise Science from UWF in 2014.

Last year, Ozarks opened the Athletic Performance Center in addition to a new weight room. The Athletic Training staff serves student-athletes from 15 NCAA varsity sports as well as competitive cheer/STUNT and clay target shooting in the care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Ozarks currently fields baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's indoor and outdoor distance track, women's indoor and outdoor distance track and men's wrestling.
