RIVERCREST HS: Hit .440 with 22 RBI and 3 home runs as a senior. Also recorded 30 hits. On the mound, went 9-1 with a 2.80 ERA in 57.0 innings of work. Had 74 strikeouts and two no-hitters. Named All-State and All-Region his senior season. Four-time All-Conference performer. Earned a spot on the Jonesboro Sun and Blytheville Courier News First Team.  Helped team to four straight conference championships. Led team to a 10-0 conference record and a regional championship his senior campaign. Team won three district championships during prep career.
