Brady Taylor Tosses Six Shutout Innings In 5-2 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman right-hander Brady Taylor threw six innings of shutout baseball and freshman right-hander Luke Dyer then closed out the game to give Ozarks a 5-2 win over Concordia University Texas Friday in American Southwest Conference play.

In his first collegiate start, Taylor (1-1) cruised through six innings before Concordia (4-7, 0-1 ASC) finally scored on him. Taylor went six and one-third, fanned four and walked three. Taylor was charged with two earned runs, both coming in the seventh off a home run. Taylor handed it over to Dyer with one out in the seventh, and the fellow freshman quickly induced two fly balls to get out of the inning. In the eighth, Dyer retired the side, and in the ninth, he did the same to receive his second save of the season. Andrew Beck ripped an RBI single in the first inning to give Ozarks (7-5, 2-2 ASC) a 1-0 advantage. Ozarks then scored twice in the fourth and fifth innings. The Eagles took advantage of an error in the fourth, and had three hits in the fifth. Justin Crider singled in a run and Zach Walker doubled in a run in the fifth to make it 5-0. 
    
Ozarks totaled eight hits, while Taylor and Dyer limited Concordia to seven.
    
Crider finished with a team-best two hits.  
    
Ozarks will finish its series tomorrow wiht a double-header starting at 12:00 p.m.
