Brady Taylor Tosses Three-Hit Shutout In Game One Victory

Belton, Texas-Freshman right-handed pitcher Brady Taylor tossed a three-hit complete game shutout to lead Ozarks to a 1-0 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday in game one of its three-game weekend series.

Ozarks would drop game two 10-6.

Taylor was spectacular in his outing allowing just five baserunners and striking out three to earn his second win of the season. Taylor issued only one walk over seven innings and faced the minimum in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh innings. He improves to 2-1 on the mound.

The only run of the game came when Ozarks (8-9, 3-5 ASC) scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. Andrew Beck led off the fourth with a single and Grady Finley grounded out to advance the runner. Dakota Ebarb drew a walk to put runners at second and first, and each advanced a base on a wild pitch. With two outs, Mary Hardin-Baylor pitcher Connor Heussner threw another wild pitch to allow Beck to cross the plate.

Beck went 3-for-3 for Ozarks. Taylor improves to 2-1.

In game two, Ozarks would score first, but UMHB answered with three runs in the first and second innings to hold a 6-1 lead. UMHB added another run in the fourth and fifth innings. Patrick Clifford had an RBI single in the fifth and Fielder Dufrene did the same in the sixth, but UMHB still led 10-3 after six complete innings. Ozarks rallied to score three runs in the eighth without recording a hit. UMHB would commit two errors to help Ozarks' cause, but the Eagles wouldn't generate any more runs.

Beck went 3-for-5 and Dufrene went 3-for-4. Jacob Barker (1-2) took the loss as the starter.

UMHB is 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the ASC.

Ozarks will finish its series against UMHB tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
