Eagles Drop Game One Of Series With Texas-Dallas

Clarksville, Ark. – Texas-Dallas (11-1, 1-0 ASC) out hit Ozarks (3-5, 1-3) thirteen to eight en route to an 8-3 victory in game one of this weekend's three game series.

The Comets got on the board in the first inning and put together 11 hits through their first eight innings at the plate to take a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the eighth.

Ozarks began to mount a comeback in the eighth, starting with a double down the left field line by Patrick Clifford. An RBI double to right center by Justin Crider brought Clifford across the plate for the Eagles first run of the game. Chase Edwards, who led Ozarks with three hits, kept the momentum rolling with an RBI to right field and Josh Woolly added another RBI with a fielder's choice to the third baseman. Bases were still loaded with no outs, but Ozarks failed to put another run across, leaving the score 6-3 through eight innings.

Texas-Dallas added two more runs in the top of the ninth. The Eagles answered by getting bases loaded with no outs to start the bottom of the ninth, but unfortunately the next three batters got three consecutive outs to end the game.

Freshman Jack Waggoner took his second loss of the season on the mound for Ozarks, while Comets pitcher Jamie Andriot improved his record to 3-0.

Game two of the three game series will begin at noon on Saturday, March 4th.
