Abilene, Texas-The Eagles' furious come-from-behind rally ended in a 13-12 loss as Hardin-Simmons University hit a two-out ninth inning home run to earn the three-game American Southwest Conference sweep over the weekend.
Hardin-Simmons (13-17, 8-10 ASC) jumped on the Eagles (9-19, 3-12 ASC) early and held a seemingly unsurmountable 12-0 lead after just two innings of play. But Ozarks begin its rally in the third scoring four runs on four hits. Chase Edwards, Andrew Beck and Josh Woolly had back-to-back-to-back RBI. The Eagles brought it to 12-6 in the fourth with Patrick Clifford's two-run double. In the sixth, Edwards and Woolly posted RBI to make it 12-8. After going scoreless in the seventh and eighth, Ozarks added four runs in the top of the ninth to even the game 12-12. Clifford had a two-run double to highlight the ninth. However, Colton Parker from Hardin-Simmons ended the game with a two-out solo home run.
Ozarks outhit the Cowboys 16-10.
Woolly, Justin Crider, Clifford, Beck, Edwards and Bryce Elder had multiple-hit games. Clifford drove in four.
Ozarks will travel to Jackson, Mississippi to face Belhaven University April 13-14.
