Baseball Team Advances To ASC Championship Tournament

Clarksville, Ark.- Head University of the Ozarks Baseball Coach Aaron Gentry has led his team to the playoffs in just his third season with the Eagles.

It is the first time since 2009 the Eagles have qualified for the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The Eagles (19-18) will face Texas-Tyler (26-14) May 4 at 3:00 p.m. in Austin, Texas.

Under Gentry, the Eagles are the No. 5 seed and have posted the program's first winning regular season record since 2008.

"I'm very proud of our baseball team," said Gentry. "Their attitude, effort and determination is the reason why we are in the tournament."

Regular-season champion and No. 1 seed Concordia University Texas and No. 2 seed Sul Ross State University will host the opening round brackets of the 2018 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournament Series May 4-6. The winners of the two brackets – the Blue and Red brackets – will meet May 10-11 at the highest remaining seed in a best two-of-three game series determining the ASC champion and conference automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
