GAME ONE
Overview:
The Eagles picked up a 4-1 win against NCAA II Harding University behind strong pitching and solid defense. Starting pitcher Garrett Williams scattered five hits over five innings to pick up the win. Williams allowed just one run and walked only one while fanning a pair. The Eagles gave Williams all the run support he needed in the second inning. Erick Aguirre, Sam Swartz and Josh Stephens all singled to the outfield to push across runs. Leading 3-0, the Eagles got an insurance run in the fourth on Breyden Varner's RBI single. From there, pitcher Tyler Vernon threw a scoreless inning and closer Corey Steward tossed the final inning to receive a save. The defense did not commit an error in the game. Both teams had seven hits. Varner paced the Eagles with a 2-for-3 performance.

The Eagles opened the game with a run, but that would be all Harding starting pitcher Ty Hoecker allowed over the next six innings. Hoecker tossed a two-hitter to claim the win.
