Chase Edwards Named To Google Cloud Academic All-District Team For Second Time

University of the Ozarks baseball standout Chase Edwards was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team for the second time in as many seasons.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks baseball standout Chase Edwards was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team for the second time in as many seasons.

Edwards, a senior designated hitter from Chandler, Ariz., earned All-District honors last season and then went on to earn a spot on the national Second Team. He hit .333 with four home runs and 20 RBI in a shortened 2020 season. Edwards also recorded five doubles and owned a .632 slugging percentage. At the conclusion of the 2020 season, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Edwards led the American Southwest Conference in RBI. Edwards, who swings the bat left-handed, produced five multiple-hit games and drove in three or more RBI four times in 2020. He is a career .370 hitter and ranks among Ozarks career top-5 in batting, slugging percentage (.588), on-base percentage (.453) and home runs (19). He totaled 103 career RBI. 

A Business Administration major, he is a member of the ASC All-Academic Team, Dean's List and a two-time All-Conference performer. In 2019, he earned First Team All-Conference, D3Baseball.com All-Region Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team. 

The 2020 Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.  First-Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career.
