Baseball Eagles Make Impact In BCBL

-The baseball duo of Frank Yackovich and Trey Vance had strong seasons in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (BCBL).

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks baseball duo of Frank Yackovich and Trey Vance had strong seasons in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League (BCBL).

Both players were named to the All-League Team recently. Yackovich, an outfielder from Emporia, Kansas, made the First Team, while Vance, an infielder from Fayetteville, Ark., made the Second Team. Yackovich and Eagle teammate Dylan McDonald played for Palmetto and helped the Generals win the league championship, topping Vance's Forestbrook Mallards in the championship game.

"I was excited to hear that three of our players that played in the BCBL made it to the championship game and played integral roles," said head coach Aaron Gentry. "The experience and confidence gained in summer baseball can be very rewarding so I'm looking forward to those guys coming back to the University of the Ozarks and to continue playing well. Yackovich, Vance and McDonald all work very hard at becoming the best they can be and are good examples of how we want our players to approach the game of college baseball."

Under Gentry, the Eagles have a long history of sending players to a variety of collegiate leagues during the summer.

Started in 2012, the BCBL provides a wood bat college summer baseball league in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The league consists of collegiate players from all across the country from NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III, JUCO and NAIA schools.
