Clarksville, Ark. – University of the Ozarks pitcher Blake Benson and outfielder Dru Didway were named the American Southwest Conference Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, it was announced Monday (March 7).
Benson, a native of Springdale, Ark., tossed a complete game 11-2 win against Mary Hardin-Baylor, giving up two unearned runs and four hits, while fanning six batters and no walks. The left-handed Benson retired the side in the second, third and sixth innings. On the season, Benson has struck out 20 in 18.0 innings of work.
Didway, a native of Sallisaw, Okla. had a walk-off double in game two of the Eagles' series with Mary Hardin-Baylor, winning 6-5. In the three-game series, he hit .454 (5-for-11) with two home runs, six RBI, three runs and a 1.090 slugging percentage as Ozarks took two-of-three from the Crusaders. On the season, Didway has three home runs and ten RBI.
The Eagles will host Hendrix College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
