  • Buzzer Beater Stuns Eagles
    November 25, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark. – Just when it appeared the game was headed into overtime, Austin College’s Ethan Pearce drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Kangaroos a come-from-behind 73-70 win on Saturday. The Eagles let a 45-32 second half lead slip away as the Kangaroos roared back to make it a game. Austin College trailed 52-41 with 12:49 remaining in the game, but didn’t flinch as the visitors went on a 12-0 run to eventually move ahead 53-52 at the 9:26 mark. After that, the game went back-and-forth with several lead changes. Tim Eldridge made back-to-back driving layups to give the Eagles a 67-63 lead with 3:23 left. But Austin College wouldn’t go away as Pearce hit a clutch shot with 1:12 left to put the Kangaroos ahead 68-67. Austin College then made a layup for a three point lead with only 36 seconds left. The Eagles got an offensive rebound and called a timeout with 11 seconds remaining. Eldridge was fouled with 3.5 seconds left on a three-point attempt, and he calmly sank all three free throws to even the game, 70-70, as it appeared the contest was headed to overtime. However, Pearce took a pass from across the court and nailed it as time expired. Eldridge led the Eagles with 21 points.
  • Eagles Push NCAA II NSU To The Brink

    Tahlequah, Okla. – Northeastern State University escaped with a narrow 72-70 win Monday night as the Eagles pushed the NCAA II Riverhawks to the brink in Tahlequah. The Eagles impressive showing was fueled by an outstanding shooting night and a dominate performance on the boards. The Eagles also held the lead for well over half of the game. The Eagles outshot the Riverhawks 46 percent from the field to 41 percent. The Eagles also drilled 12-of-26 (46%) from the three-point line, while NSU hit 8-of-26. At the end of the game, the Eagles owned a 39-28 rebound advantage. The Eagles held a 36-33 halftime lead behind a balanced scoring output from both the outside and inside. The game went back-and-forth in the second half and the Eagles responded to every Northeastern threat. Justice Marmara drilled a three-pointer at the three-minute mark to give the Eagles a 64-63 lead. Marmara would hit another three, this time from NBA range, to give the Eagles a 70-69 advantage with ten seconds remaining in the game. But the Riverhawks executed a play with just six ticks left to go ahead. The Eagles did have the last possession, but couldn’t convert. Tim Eldridge and Marmara each had 17 points to lead the Eagles.
  • Hot-Shooting Rhodes Top Eagles

    Memphis, Tenn. – Rhodes College hit a sizzling 51 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free throw line to hand the Eagles their first loss, 85-51, on Sunday in Memphis. The Lynx also drilled 15-of-28 (53%) from the three-point line. The Eagles held an early lead, but Rhodes hit several shots in the latter part of the first half to hold a 41-24 halftime advantage. Rhodes continued to hit shots in the second half and built a 20-plus point lead. Tylan Jackson scored 12 points to lead the Eagles in scoring. 
  • Big Second Half Pushes Eagles To 4-0
    November 18, 2023
    Memphis, Tenn. – The Eagles outscored Milsaps College 42-26 in the second half to claim a 73-66 win and move to 4-0 on the season. Millsaps had a strong first half hitting 57 percent from the field and owned a 40-31 halftime lead. But the Eagles looked different in the second half turning up the defensive pressure and limiting Millsaps to 27 percent from the field. The Eagles offense also shot better, improving to 42 percent from the floor and 90 percent from the free throw line. The Eagles opened the second half on a 14-0 run and Millsaps never had the lead again. Jordan Jenkins and Josh Ukpe hit back-to-back three-pointers during that stretch. Millsaps did cut the deficit to 66-63 with 1:12 remaining, but Tim Eldridge hit a clutch three-pointer with under a minute to go and then made a pair of free throws with 32 seconds left. Ukpe led the Eagles with 17 points. 
  • Eagles Move To 3-0 With Road Win

    Sherman, Texas – The Eagles moved to 3-0 on the season with a 66-56 road win against Austin College Tuesday night. The Eagles jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first half and went into halftime with a 31-22 advantage. The Eagles forced 14 turnovers in the first half and had eight players who were in the scoring column. After Austin College closed the gap to 40-33, the Eagles built a 49-34 lead with 10:38 remaining in the game on Tim Eldridge’s jump shot. The Eagles went on a 10-1 run over a four-minute span in the second half. Austin College never really threatened after that as the Eagles’ defense limited the Kangaroos to 30 percent shooting from the field in the second half. The Eagles outperformed Austin in shooting percentage in the game 45 percent to 27 percent. Tylan Jackson led the Eagles with 13 points.
  • Eagles Dominate Lyon College

    Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles jumped on Lyon College early in the game and never looked back in a dominating 82-65 win Saturday. The Eagles opened the game with a 13-3 lead and then built a 44-27 halftime advantage. The Eagles shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half and.pulled down 21 rebounds. Tylan Jackson had 11 first half points and Timquorian Johnson had a pair of dunks to ignite the Eagles. In the second half, seven different players scored to round out a balanced scoring attack. Lyon got within single digits in the second half, but the Eagles responded each time. Jordan Jenkins drilled a three-pointer and Tim Eldridge and Jackson made layups to erase any comeback ideas. Jackson led the Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds. Eldridge had 16 points and four steals.
  • Men's Basketball Survives Hendrix To Open Season

    Conway, Ark. – The Eagles held on late and fought off a Hendrix rally to pick up a 71-66 win to open the season on Wednesday night. Hendrix held just one lead in the game, which came in the opening minute. The Eagles then controlled the rest of the game building a 42-34 halftime lead. The Eagles maintained a lead in the second half, but the Warriors rallied to close the gap. Hendrix cut it to 67-66 with 2:11 to go. But Josh Ukpe hit a fade away jumper with 38 seconds remaining to make it 69-66. Ukpe posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Eagles hit 41 percent from the field while Hendrix made 38 percent.

  • LeTourneau Men Spoil Eagle Senior Day

    Clarksville, Ark. – LeTourneau went on a 14-0 second half run to spoil the Eagles’ Senior Day and take a 92-80 win Saturday. Grayson Nix hit a pair of free throws at the 6:37 mark of the second half, but LeTourneau scored 14 straight points to take command of the game. Nix was nearly unstoppable in his final game at Ozarks using a variety of drives and shots from long range to score 34 points. He finished 12-of-21 from the field. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the game. Dillon Cheater poured in 20 points. Seniors Dillon Cheater, Grayson Nix and Kamren Roelke were honored prior to the game in a Senior Day Celebration Ceremony. Cheater hit over 50 career three-pointers and had over 300 career points. Nix hit he has made 126 career three-pointers and scored over 1,000 points in his collegiate career. Roelke scored over 500 career points and made over 50 career three-pointers at Ozarks.
  • ETBU Men Hit 59 Percent In Win Over Eagles

    Clarksville, Ark. ? East Texas Baptist University built a 43-28 halftime to power their way to a 87-70 win over the Eagles Thursday night. The Tigers shot an impressive 59 percent from the field in the game. From long-range, the Tigers made 10-of-18 (55%). The Eagles hit 16-of-17 from the free throw line and had four players reach double figures in scoring. The Eagles made a run in the second half with Eugene Barnes hitting back-to-back three-pointers to close the gap to 62-49. Grayson Nix later followed with another three-pointer, but the Tigers slowly built a 72-56 advantage with 5:51 remaining in the game. Nix and Kamren Roelke each scored 17 points to lead the Eagles.
  • Mary Hardin-Baylor Men Top Eagles

    Belton, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor outscored the Eagles 44-28 in the second half to take a 90-65 win on Saturday. The Eagles trailed 46-37 in the first half, but the Crusaders opened the second half on a 7-0 run to take control of the game. The Eagles drilled 13 three-pointers in the game. The starting trio of Dillon Cheater, Kamren Roelke and Grayson Nix combined for ten three-pointers. Roelke led the Eagles with 13 points.  
  • Concordia Men Top Eagles

    Austin, Texas – Concordia University Texas used a 51-38 halftime lead to take a 96-84 win over the Eagles Thursday night in Texas. Both teams shot 46 percent from the field and the two teams combined for 23 three-pointers. With the Eagles leading 21-19 in the first half, Concordia went on a 16-0 run over four minutes to take momentum. That allowed Concordia to go into halftime with a double-digit lead. The Eagles countered with a 10-0 run to open the second half to close the gap to 51-48. But Concordia recovered and was able to eventually gain a 74-61 advantage with eight minutes remaining. 
  • Hardin-Simmons Takes Second Half From Eagles

    Clarksville, Ark.- Hardin-Simmons outscored the Eagles 58-30 in the second half to break a halftime tie and finish with a 95-67 win Monday night. The Cowboys hit 54 percent from the field, while the Eagles hit 23 percent in the second half. The Cowboys drilled seven second half three-pointers to help the cause. After the game was tied 37-37 at halftime, the Eagles held a 46-43 lead at the 16:23 mark of the second half. But Hardin-Simmons went on a 15-2 run after that to take control of the game. Josh Ukpe led the Eagles with 22 points.
  • Eagles Hit 64 Percent In Home Win
    February 04, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles hit a red-hot 64 percent from the field in the game and held off McMurry late to take a 112-102 win over the Warhawks Saturday. The two teams combined for 140 shots in the uptempo game. The Eagles went 42-of-65 from the field, including 13-of-30 from the three-point line. The Eagles led 58-51 at halftime and never lost the lead in the second half. Josh Ukpe’s three-pointer at the 10:19 mark increased the advantage to 83-69. McMurry made a run to close the deficit to three points with less than six minutes to play and two points with 2:17 left. However, the Eagles answered each run. Leading 98-96, Grayson Nix drilled a three-pointer to start a 7-0 run. Ukpe led the Eagles with 31 points and nine rebounds. Kamren Roelke had 19 points and 11 assists.

  • Comets Edge Eagles In ASC Game

    Clarksville, Ark.-In a game that saw a combined 66 three-point attempts, the Eagles came close to taking down UT Dallas, but the Comets were able to hit a couple of clutch shots late to steal away a 73-69 win Saturday. With the score tied 66-66 with about three minutes remaining in the game, the Comets hit a three-pointer and then kept the Eagles off the board until Kamren Roelke completed a three-point play with 29 seconds left. The Comets hit a pair of clutch free throws to make it 73-69 with 19 seconds remaining. The Eagles dug deep against the much bigger Comet lineup pulling down 39 rebounds. The Comets held a 41-35 halftime lead. Josh Ukpe led the Eagles with 23 points, hitting four three-pointers. 
  • Eagles Fall Short Against Sul Ross State

    Alpine, Texas-With the score tied 70-70 with four minutes in the game, Sul Ross State University went on a 13-8 run to secure a 83-78 win over the Eagles Saturday in conference play. The Lobos led 43-38 at halftime. The Eagles had a strong game shooting, hitting 50 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free throw line. The Eagles hit 14-of-28 from the three-point line. Josh Ukpe made four three-pointers, while Dillon Cheater, Tim Eldridge and Grayson Nix all hit three from beyond the arc. Eldridge?s jump shot with 10:10 remaining in the game put the Eagles in front 58-56, but the lead didn?t last long. The two teams battled back and forth and the Eagles would tie the game once more, but the Lobos reeled off 13 points in the final four minutes. Eldridge led the Eagles with 27 points.   
  • Eagles Fall In Triple Overtime

    Brownwood, Texas-Howard Payne University held off the Eagles in the final overtime as the YellowJackets recorded a wild 118-115 win Thursday night in Texas. The game remained close throughout the night as the teams went into halftime notched up at 46-46. With just seconds to go at the end of regulation, Josh Ukpe scored on a layup to push the game into overtime. After a back and forth battle in overtime, Howard Payne would send the game into a second overtime after scoring with seconds left. In the third overtime, Howard Payne held a 114-110 lead with 1:29 remaining, but the Eagles would cut it to 117-115 on Ukpe’s three-pointer. The Eagles would get the ball back with only seconds left but couldn’t convert. Tylan Jackson and Ukpe recorded double-doubles for the Eagles. Jackson had 29 points and 12 rebounds while Ukpe had 26 points and 11 rebounds. A combined 77 free throws were shot in the game. The Eagles shot over 50 percent for the game.

    Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University scored 22 points off turnovers to claim a 87-62 win over the Eagles Saturday in conference play. The Tigers held a 46-21 lead at halftime and never let the Eagles back into the game in the second half. The Tigers led the entire game. The Eagles had three players reach double figures in scoring with Ukpe leading the way with 15 points. Tylan Jackson added 14 points and Grayson Nix had ten. 
  • Eagles Fall Short Against LeTourneau

    Longview, Texas-The Eagles scored first but wouldn’t hold the lead again as LeTourneau University built a 51-31 halftime lead en route to a 85-68 win Thursday in conference play. LeTourneau hit 52 percent from the floor on the night, while the Eagles made 37 percent. The Eagles outscored LeTourneau 37-34 in the second half, but the deficit was too big to overcome. Grayson Nix led the Eagles with 17 points.
