Leach Ignites Eagles 3-1 Win Over McMurry

Clarksville, Ark.-Travis Leach scored a pair of goals in the second half to push Ozarks past conference opponent McMurry 3-1 Saturday.

Ozarks (2-3-2) trailed 1-0 after the War Hawks (0-6-0) netted a goal in the 60th minute off a corner kick. Ozarks held a 8-0 shots advantage in the first half as Leach and Sean Garcia each posted scoring threats. Leach's came in the 33rd minute on a header, while Garcia sent a rocket towards the net in the 36th minute only to have McMurry goalkeeper Austin Long make a save.    

Ozarks continue to press in the second half and eventually put home the game-tying goal. Thomas Mills would net a beautiful header in the 70th minute on a perfect pass from Tony Ramos. From there, Ozarks scored less than a minute later when Leach found the back of the net. Zahir Bracey received the assist. Leach put Ozarks in control with his second goal, this time coming in the 86th minute. Austin Hedgpeth was credited with an assist after Leach dribbled and ripped one past Long from 20 yards out.

Ozarks ended with a 21-4 shots and 8-1 corner kicks advantage.

The match against McMurry does not count in the American Southwest Conference standings.

Ozarks will host Williams Baptist College September 22 in non-conference action.
