Men’s Soccer Team Grinds Out 1-1 Tie Against No. 22 Texas-Dallas

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles bid to upset No. 22 Texas-Dallas resulted in a 1-1 double overtime tie Thursday in American Southwest Conference action.

The Eagles were in control of the match in the first half and went ahead 1-0 in the 16th minute on a Travis Leach header. Leach rose above the Texas-Dallas defense in the box to score his fourth goal of the season. Thomas Mills had a perfect throw in to receive the assist. Ozarks continued to possess the ball in the first half and did not allow Texas-Dallas to score. The Comets came out early in the second half to even the score, 1-1, on nearly the identical way Ozarks scored its goal. Jordan Rubel headed a throw in from Andrew Jenson for the goal. Ozarks' defensive effort was huge in the second half as it fought off six Texas-Dallas corner kicks. Neither team was able to create much offense in the overtime periods, with Texas-Dallas recording the only shot.

Austin Benner posted three saves in goal for Ozarks.

Ozarks will host Howard Payne University October 24 for Senior Day. Seniors Austin Benner, Travis Leach, Tony Ramos and Matt Weaver will be honored prior to the match that day.
