Works Pitches Complete Game In Game Two Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Jeffrey Works pitched a complete game to lead the Eagles to a 7-2 win over Louisiana College in game two of Friday's American Southwest Conference double-header.

Works (2-4) fanned five and allowed both of his runs in the third inning on three hits. The right-handed senior from Fordyce settled in after the third and allowed just five hits the rest of the way. Works fought his way out of a lead-off double in the fourth and then didn't allow a runner in scoring position after that. Meanwhile, the Eagles (9-16, 6-14 ASC) provided Works with a run in the first inning on a Tony Morales RBI single. Trailing 2-1, Andres Acosta quickly changed that as he blasted a solo home run in the fourth to even the score. In the fifth, Ozarks scored three times on three hits. Andrew Beck, John Singler and Morales all had RBI in the frame. Ozarks added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth, one of which came on an RBI single from Beck.

Morales, Freddy Prince, Taylor Parker and Dean Igert all had two hits.

In game one, Louisiana College (9-17, 8-12 ASC) rallied from a 3-2 deficit in the final inning to escape with a 4-3 win. Garret Parsons provided a two-out, two-run double in the seventh to secure the game. Wildcat pitcher Madison Lachney then retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to pick up his fourth win of the season. Peyton Johnigan had an RBI single in the second and Morales did the same in the third to even the score 2-2. Prince drove in a run in the fourth to give Ozarks a short lived 3-2 advantage.

Prince (1-2) received the loss in relief. Beck had a team-best two hits.

Ozarks will finish its series tomorrow with a nine-inning game starting at noon.
