Texas-Dallas Edges Eagles 4-3 In Extra Innings

Richardson, Texas-Texas-Dallas second baseman Nick Marti ripped a two-out RBI single down the left field line in the tenth inning to push the Comets to a 4-3 win over the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play Friday.

Starting pitcher Jeffrey Works tossed eight innings and allowed three runs, all of which came in the third inning, before being replaced by Andrew Beck. UT-Dallas (17-10, 13-8 ASC) scratched across three runs in the third on four hits to take a 3-0 lead, but other than that Works controlled the game. Works was sharp in his outing retiring the side in the fourth, fifth and seventh, while facing only four batters in the sixth and eighth. Sam Shook recorded an infield single to trim the deficit to 3-1 in the fifth and Dean Igert tied the game with a two-run single in the sixth. Beck (0-3) worked quickly in the bottom of the tenth getting two outs, but allowed back-to-back hits to receive the loss. Works struck out three.

Beck paced Ozarks (9-19, 6-16 ASC) at the plate with a 2-for-5 performance.

Ozarks will finish its series against UT-Dallas tomorrow with a double-header starting at noon.
