Prince, Acosta Homer In 6-5 Win

Marshall, Texas-Freddy Prince and Andres Acosta homered to push the Eagles to a 6-5 win over East Texas Baptist University Friday night in American Southwest Conference play.

Acosta, who now has three homers on the season, launched one to left center in the second inning to give Ozarks (13-22, 9-19 ASC) a 1-0 lead. Prince followed in the third inning with another solo shot to put the Eagles up 2-0. Leading 4-2, Ozarks added two runs in the top of the seventh on RBI from Peyton Johnigan and Taylor Parker. East Texas Baptist (14-21, 11-17 ASC) responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough. Prince was then inserted on the mound and proceeded to throw three shutout innings to receive the save. Prince scattered three hits and struck out two.

Jeffrey Works (4-3) produced another solid performance as the starter to receive the win. Works struck out three and was charged with three earned runs.

Parker finished 3-for-5, while Prince, Acosta, Johnigan and Sam Shook all had two hits.

Ozarks will finish its series against East Texas Baptist tomorrow with a double-header starting at 1:00 p.m.
