Gyeongju Kim Strikes Out 13; Beck Pitches In Game One, Homers In Game Two

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman right-handed pitcher Gyeongju Kim struck out 13 in seven innings of work to propel the University of the Ozarks to an 8-5 win over LeTourneau University in game two of Friday's double-header.

Kim (2-3) faced 28 batters and scattered six hits to receive the win. Andrew Beck homered and drove in two for Ozarks (12-26, 6-17 ASC). With the Eagles leading 2-1, Jake Smith, Quinten Parker and Michael Justice Carrion all recorded RBI in the third inning. Beck powered his homer in the eighth to give Ozarks a 8-3 lead.

In game one, Beck (1-1) received the win on the mound and helped his own cause by going 3-for-4 at the plate in game one's 12-6 win. The Eagles scored six times in the second inning to gain a 6-2 advantage. Fielder Dufrene tripled in a run, and Chase Edwards followed with a two-run single. Beck doubled in a run, and Josh Woolly doubled in a run to cap the Eagles' scoring. Edwards went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs.    

The series ended with Friday's two games as wide-spread rain is expected on Saturday.

Friday's game marked the final outing for seven seniors - Beck, Justice Carrion, Parker, Alex Smith, Jake Smith, Keaton Ramsey and Vera.
