  • Men's Basketball Team Hits 50 percent In Senior Day Win

    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles ended the season on a high note earning a 82-67 win over Belhaven University on Senior Day. The Eagles shot a solid 50 percent from the field on the day. The Eagles used their depth to wear down Belhaven as 17 players saw action in the game. The Eagles led 34-28 at halftime, and extended the lead to 47-36 at the 14:24 mark of the second half on Darnel Renelique's basket and free throw. Belhaven hung around and cut the deficit to 52-50 around the 12-minute mark, but the Eagles controlled the rest of the game. Renelique posted a double-double, but it was Jacobe Davis that sparked the offense with 16 points. It was the final game for seniors Skyler Barnes, Clay Conley and Lance Gardner.
  • Louisiana College Drills 12 Three-Pointers In Win

    Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College hit 34-of-64 (53%) of its shots to cruise past the Eagles 95-59. The Wildcats were hot from the outside, hitting 12-of-25 (48%), and made 15-of-17 (88%) from the free throw line. The Wildcats led 48-21 at halftime and never let the Eagles threatened seriously. 
  • Men's Basketball Team Drops Road Game To Division Leader

    Richardson, Texas-Texas Dallas shot 67 percent from the field to hand the Eagles a 95-72 setback Thursday night. The Eagles shot a respectable 51 percent from the floor. Texas Dallas led 48-34 at intermission behind 70 percent shooting from the field. Cordy Winston and Bryson Johnson each scored 12 points.
  • LeTourneau Men Hand Eagles Road Loss

    Longview, Texas-The Eagles had trouble making any comebacks in a 88-77 loss against LeTourneau University Saturday in league play. LeTourneau held a 45-35 halftime advantage and then built a 20-point lead with 12:55 remaining in the game. The Eagles were forced to play catch-up in the second half. The Eagles shot just 53 percent from the free throw line in the game. Bryson Johnson led the Eagles with 17 points.
  • Eagles Let Second Half Lead Slip Away In Overtime Loss
    January 31, 2019
    Marshall, Texas-The Eagles gave up a double-digit lead in the second half as East Texas Baptist avenged a loss from a week ago winning 92-85 Thursday night. Robby Dooley's layup with one second left sent the game into overtime after the Eagles had a 70-56 advantage with 4:52 remaining in the game. In overtime, the Tigers outscored the Eagles 16-9. In its comeback, East Texas Baptist outscored the Eagles 20-6 in the final five minutes of regulation. A pair of Lance Gardner free throws gave the Eagles a three point cushion with 24 seconds left, but the Tigers were able to make one-of-two from the free throw line to bring it to 76-74 with 20 ticks. From there, the Eagles would miss a free throw and give the Tigers the last possession.  Lance Gardner had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Eagles.
  • Surging Eagles Earn 95-83 Win Over East Texas Baptist

    Clarksville, Ark.-The surging Eagles held the lead for the majority of the game en route to a 95-83 win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday in American Southwest Conference play. The Eagles led 44-35 at halftime and then built a 16-point advantage five minutes into the second half. The Tigers did make a couple of runs in the second half, including cutting it to six points with under three minutes to play, but the Eagles never let the visitors take the lead. The Eagles hit 10-of-11 from the free throw line in the final one minute to secure the game. Ethan Bowman led the team with 17 points and tied for the team-high with eight rebounds. Bowman sank 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the contest. Cordy Winston drilled all four of his three-point attempts to score 12 points. Deon Blakemore, Jr. hit 2-of-2 from the three-point line to score 12 points.
  • Eagles Make Plays Late To Secure Big ASC Win
    January 24, 2019
    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles made all the right plays late in the game to secure a big 81-75 conference win over LeTourneau University Thursday night. The Eagles had Mabee Gymnasium rocking as Ethan Bowman broke a 72-72 tie at the 3:15 mark with a clutch shot. After LeTourneau trimmed the lead to 74-73, Bryson Johnson made a pair of high pressure free throws with 1:46 left. LeTourneau answered with a basket on its next possession, but the Eagles got another huge bucket from Bowman with 32 seconds left. LeTourneau didn't score again and Johnson had a basket and one free throw to seal the game. Johnson finished with 18 points and Jacobe Davis had 12 off the bench. Johnson and the rest of the Eagle guards held high-scoring Nate West to 13 points. The Eagles held a 44-29 halftime advantage before needing to hold off LeTourneau in the second half.
  • UT-Tyler Pulls Away For 87-78 Win
    January 21, 2019
    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles played tough in the first half only to have the visitors come back in the final twenty minutes for the second straight home game with UT-Tyler taking a 87-78 win Monday night. The Eagles held a 42-41 lead at halftime, but couldn't keep the advantage in the second half. UT-Tyler took the lead for good at the 17:12 mark on a three-point shot. The Patriots shot an impressive 60 percent from the field in the second half. The Patriots also drained 50 percent from the three-point line and 88 percent from the free throw line in the second half. Bryson Johnson had a big night scoring 21 points. Skyler Barnes had another productive night off the bench hitting four three-pointers and finishing with 18 points. Ethan Bowman missed just two shots from the field and scored 18 points. 
  • Comets Secure Win With Big Second Half

    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles trailed 38-35 at halftime, but were outscored 51-34 in the second half as Texas Dallas took a 89-69 American Southwest Conference win Saturday. The Comets hit 56 percent from the field in the second half and 90 percent from the free throw line. The Comets pulled down 25 rebounds during that stretch for numerous second chance points. The Eagles held the lead briefly in the first half, but couldn't keep the balanced Comets from regaining it. Cordy Winston hit five three-pointers in the second half and scored 16. He finished the game with 19 points. Skyler Barnes made five three-pointers and added 15 points. 
  • Big Second Half Propels Louisiana College Past Eagles
    January 12, 2019
    Pineville, La.-The Eagles trailed 38-34 at the half, but Louisiana College put up 50 points in the second half to take a 88-55 win Saturday in American Southwest Conference play. The Eagles scored just 21 points in the second half. The Wildcats made 14 three-pointers and shot 54 percent from the field in the contest. Meanwhile, the Eagles struggled in the second half making only seven field goals and went 0-for-9 from the three-point line. Bryson Johnson led the Eagles with 13 points.
  • Bowman's Big Night Pushes Eagles Past Belhaven
    January 10, 2019
    Jackson, Miss.-The Eagles had a strong shooting night from the field hitting 54 percent, including 52 percent from the three-point line, and made 81 percent from the free throw while riding the hot hand of Ethan Bowman. Bowman poured in 16 first half points and 12 more in the second half to score 28 points. He hit 5-of-7 from the three-point line. The Eagles led 41-33 at halftime and then scored 49 points in the second half. The Eagles also had a balanced attack distributing the ball as three players had five or more assists. The team totaled 25 assists in the game, with Bryson Johnson leading the way with nine. The Eagles never trailed in the game. 
  • Sul Ross State Fights Off Eagles' Chances With Free Throw Performance
    January 05, 2019
    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles hung around the entire game but could never take the lead from the hot-shooting Sul Ross State Lobos as Ozarks fell 82-73 in American Southwest Conference action Saturday. Sul Ross State hit 23-of-26 (88%) from the free throw line to hold off the Eagles' comeback chances. The Eagles scored first for their only lead of the game. The Eagles played the Lobos tough, cutting the deficit to 27-25 with three minutes left in the first half. Sul Ross held a narrow 34-37 halftime advantage. In the second half when the Eagles seemed to close the gap, Sul Ross would respond with clutch free throws. The Lobos were 20-of-22 from the free throw line in the second half. Lance Gardner posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Balanced Scoring, Bench Play Key In Win Over Howard Payne

    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles got balanced scoring and a strong effort from the bench to oust Howard Payne University 73-61 Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action. 48 points came from the bench for the Eagles. Jacobe Davis had 10 points, as did Lance Gardner and Skyler Barnes. After trailing 30-28 at the half, the Eagles outscored Howard Payne 45-31 in the second half. In the second half, the Eagles shot 53 percent from the floor. Gardner and Davis went a combined 7-of-8 from the field in the second half. Davis ignited a 9-2 run in the second half with six points. And the Eagles used a 15-9 run to close out the final four minutes of the game.
  • Scoring Drought Dooms Eagles

    Atlanta, Ga.-A six-minute scoring drought cost the Eagles a chance at a win as Sewanee moved to 11-1 with a 84-70 victory Sunday in the Comfort Inn and Suites Holiday Classic. With Sewanee leading 65-56 at the 9:13 mark of the second half, the Eagles were unable to put any points on the board until the 4:10 mark. Sewanee scored 13 points during that span. The Eagles trailed 42-38 at the half and hung around early in the second half. But Sewanee had a solid shooting day, hitting 51 percent from the field, including 43 percent from the three-point line, and hit 22-of-27 from the free throw line. Meanwhile, the Eagles made 41 percent from the floor and 66 percent from the free throw line.
  • Oglethorpe's Strong Second Half Effort Downs Eagles
    December 29, 2018
    Atlanta, Ga.-Trailing just 29-28 at halftime, the Eagles shot 29 percent in the second half and Oglethorpe hit 48 percent to outscore Ozarks 42-26 and pull away for a 71-54 win Saturday in the Comfort Inn and Suites Holiday Classic. The game was knotted 40-40 at the 13:32 mark of the second half, but Oglethorpe went on a 13-3 run over the next six minutes to take control of the game. The Eagles did cut the deficit to 57-49 on Cordy Winston's three-pointer, but Oglethorpe answered with a 9-0 spurt to put the game out of reach. Bryson Johnson carried the Eagles in the first half with 12 points and finished with 18. For the game, Ogelthorpe hit 42 percent from the field, while the Eagles made 35 percent.
  • Concordia Men Reel Off 16-0 Run To Pull Away From Eagles

    Austin, Texas-After a strong 15 minutes of play to open the game, the Eagles let go of the lead and never regained it as Concordia University Texas posted a 97-77 win Monday in Austin. The Eagles ended the first half by trailing 41-33 despite leading for most of the first half and holding a higher shooting percentage from the field. In the second half, the Eagles again had a strong performance to open pulling within 56-54 on Kelvin Knight's shot with 12:33 remaining. Three minutes later, Javian Williams hit a three-pointer to tie the game 64-64. But Concordia reeled off a 16-0 run after Williams' basket and the Eagles never regained any momentum. The Eagles shot 42 percent from the field in the game, while Concordia hit 49 percent.
  • Mary Hardin-Baylor Men Handle Basketball Eagles
    December 15, 2018
    Belton, Texas-Mary Hardin-Baylor shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to keep the Eagles from a possible comeback and secure a 107-72 conference win. The Eagles trailed 42-33 at the half, but fell behind 57-38 within the first five minutes of the second half. From that point, the Crusaders never let the Eagles back into the game. The Eagles hit 34 percent in the game, while Mary Hardin-Baylor hit 48 percent. The Eagles hit 11 three-pointers in the game, but committed 23 turnovers. Cory Wilhelm led the team with 13 points.
  • Five-Minute Run Too Much For Eagles
    December 05, 2018
    Clarksville, Ark.-Hardin-Simmons went on a 18-11 run in the final five minutes of game and doomed the Eagles as the Cowboys pulled away for a 82-71 win Wednesday night. Just after the Eagles had cut the deficit to 64-60, Hardin-Simmons reeled off a trio of three-point shots to end the hopes of Ozarks. The Cowboys led 39-33 at the half and never let the Eagles grab the lead although Ozarks did tie it early in the second half. Lance Gardner led the Eagles with 15 points.

  • Eagles Capture Conference Win Against McMurry
    December 03, 2018
    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles used a big first half effort to capture a 94-81 win over McMurry University Monday night. The Eagles hit 55 percent from the floor and got 11 points from Zach Bobo and 10 points from Lance Gardner in the first half. The Eagles opened the game on a 19-5 run. The Eagles built a 66-48 lead on Skyler Barnes' three-pointer with 11:35 remaining, but the War Hawks chiseled into the advantage and cut it to 67-59. The War Hawks later cut it to five points, but the Eagles responded with 23 points in the final seven minutes to secure the game. Kelvin Knight scored six points during that span and finished with a team-high 18. Knight went 7-of-8 from the field in the game. Bobo finished with 17 points and Ethan Bowman added 15. Gardner added 11 points.
  • Men's Basketball Team Drops UT-Tyler Game

    Tyler, Texas-UT-Tyler built a 36-30 halftime lead and then held off the Eagles in the second half to secure a 73-68 win. The Eagles went on an 8-0 run around the 15-minute mark to trim the deficit to 41-40. Ethan Bowman capped the run with a layup. The Eagles later tied the game and came within 68-65 on a Lance Gardner three-pointer at the 2:36 mark. A free throw later made it 68-66, but the Eagles could never take the lead.
