  • Friday Night Loss Ends Jerhett Lee's Run At NCAA III National Championships

    Roanoke, Va.-After dropping his first match to No. 1 seed James Bethel from SUNY Oneonta, Jerhett Lee came back with a win over Wade Ripple from Wabash, but then his season ended with a loss against Jake O'Brien from Ithaca Friday night. Lee's consolation win came as a result of a fall against Ripple in the second period. Wrestling in the 285 class, Lee went 1-2 at the National Championships. O'Brien topped Lee by decision (8-1). Lee ends the season with All-American Scholar-Athlete accolades and had 30-plus wins.
  • Jerhett Lee Prepares For NCAA III Wrestling National Championships

    Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks wrestling program has qualified another wrestler to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Eagles had their first-ever national qualifiers last season and followed that history up with a qualification from heavyweight Jerhett Lee in 2019. The National Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, in Roanoke, Virginia. Hosted by Ferrum College, Lee (285) advanced to the national championships after finishing third at the regional championships February 23-24. At the National Championships, Lee will face James Bethel in his first match Friday. Bethel, who is from SUNY Oneonto, has posted a 45-1 record this season. Lee comes into his fight with a 34-4 record. Under third-year head coach LeRoy Gardner, the wrestling program has had three wrestlers qualify for Nationals.
  • Jerhett Lee Qualifies For NCAA III National Championships

    Clarksville, Ark.-Jerhett Lee (285) led the Eagles at the NCAA III Lower Midwest Regional to a ninth-place finish and qualified to compete in the NCAA III National Championships March 8-9 in Roanoke, Virginia. Lee, who placed third as a heavy weight, punched his ticket to the National Championships with a Fall (4:21) over Audel Ochoa from North Central. The Eagles also had two other place winners. Nathan Rankin (125) and Jaylen York (141) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Lee is the second from the program to qualify in as many seasons. Rankin advanced last season, a first for the program.
  • Wrestlers Advance In NCAA III Regional
    February 23, 2019
    Dubuque, iowa-The Eagles finished day one at the NCAA III Lower Midwest regional in ninth-place Saturday. The Eagles will continue in day two, the final day, tomorrow. Nathan Rankin (125) advanced to the semi-finals of the regional after posting wins over Simpson College and Lutheran. He recorded two falls. Rankin will face Eron Haynes from Nebraska Wesleyan Sunday. Jaylen York (141) will battle for a top-3 spot through the consolation bracket. York won by a fall, and then lost by decision (13-10). He then came back to earn a win by fall. Jerhett Lee (285) will also look to advance to nationals through the consolation bracket. Lee had a fall, but then lost by a fall. He came back to record another win by major decision to continue competition.

    Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks wrestling team will compete in the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Championships February 23-24 at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
  • Eagles Post Program's Highest Finish At Conference Championships

    Montgomery, Alabama-The Eagles finished second at the Southeast Conference Championships in Alabama Saturday, marking the program's highest finish ever at the conference tournament. Last season, the Eagles placed fourth overall. The Eagles now turn their attention to the NCAA Division III Regionals February 23-24 in Iowa. Highlighting the championships were Nathan Rankin (125), Miguel Baray (184), Adolfo Sotolongo (197) and Jerhett Lee (285), all of whom won individual conference titles in their respective weight class. In all, the Eagles had five more wrestlers finish among the top-4. These included Corey Muniz (133), Stephen Fox (133), Jaylen York (141), Jacob Sherrill (165) and N'Dayambaje John (174).

  • Eagles Continue To Roll With Win Over Westminster College

    Fulton, Mo.-The Eagles continue to roll at the right time of the season posting a 28-20 road win over Westminster College Friday night. The Eagles have now won five straight duals heading into the Southeast Conference Tournament and the NCAA III Regional. With nine wins, it is the most dual wins since the began in 2014. Against Westminster, Nathan Rankin topped a strong opponent in Travis Jones. Rankin won by fall to gain six points at the 125-pound weight class. Jaylen York (141) maintained his success as he recorded a fall over Drake Winder. Jerhett Lee remained tough at heavyweight winning his match in a fall against Deryl VanNostrand. Kade McMahon (165) posted a decision (9-3) over Payton Price. Miguel Baray (184) won by decision and Adolfo Sotolongo (197) won by major decision (15-7).
  • Wrestling Team Wins Fourth Straight Dual To Finish Strong January

    Montgomery, Ala.-The Eagles have built major momentum heading into the final month and a half of NCAA III wrestling. The Eagles posted two wins Saturday in Alabama to increase their dual win streak to four. Along with winning four duals in January, the Eagles placed second and sixth in a pair of invitationals earlier in the month. On Saturday, the Eagles topped Huntingdon College 30-21 and Greensboro College 32-13 on the road. Among the highlights of the day were Jerhett Lee (285) and Adolfo Sotolongo (197) pinning their opponents in each match. Lee pinned Joseph Pearson from Huntingdon and Vince Wilson from Greensboro in the first period. Nathan Rankin (125), Corey Muniz (133) and Ndayambaje John (174) also had outstanding days posting a 2-0 record.

  • Eagles Impressive On Senior Night

    Clarksville, Ark.-In the final home match for seniors Si Nhamnhouane, Ny'Trell Dean, Jacob Sherrill and Jon Gonzales, the Eagles posted an impressive 54-0 win over Central Baptist College Tuesday. Nhamahouane (133) wrestled Jeff Williams and won by decision. Central Baptist dropped six matches by forfeit. Russell Miller (157) battled Raivyn Alicea and got the pin fall. Adolfo Sotolongo (197) took a win by decision over Matt Jones. And Jerhett Lee won by a pin over Dewayne Jennings at 285. Prior to the match, the four seniors were honored by head coach LeRoy Gardner in a ceremony.
  • Eagles Handle No. 12 Drury 25-19

    Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles took care of business against nationally-ranked NCAA II Drury University Thursday afternoon taking a 25-19 victory. Drury is currently ranked No. 12 in NCAA II. In the end, Nathan Rankin and Ndayambaje John won by pin. Corey Muniz (15-0) and Jaylen York (24-9) won by technical fall. At 285, Jerhett Lee kept his momentum this season with a win by decision.
  • Wrestling Team Places Second At CBC Mustang Invitational

    Conway, Ark.-The Eagles finished second at the Central Baptist College Mustang Invitational Saturday in Conway. A pair of wrestlers - Jaylen York (141) and Jerhett Lee (285) - led the way for the Eagles with first-place finishes. York won by tech fall over Kyle Allen (Hannibal LaGrange University ) (TF-1.5 1:59, 16-0), by tech fall over Gamel Lawton (Brewton-Parker College ) (TF-1.5 7:00, 22-7) and in the first place match by tech fall over Latrell Lewis (Calumet St. Joseph College ) (TF-1.5 5:38, 20-5). Lee won by fall over Chandler Butler (Brewton-Parker College ) (Fall 1:53), won by fall over Trayshawn Jones (Calumet St. Joseph College ) (Fall 5:25) and in the first place match won by fall over Nick Fowler (Calumet St. Joseph College ) (Fall 6:02). At 125, Nathan Rankin finished second after winning by fall over Darius Gatewood (Central Baptist College ) (Fall 2:15) and then winning by a major decision over Joe Lupton (Hannibal LaGrange University ) (MD 15-7).

  • Eagles Place Sixth At Under Armour Invitational

    Pella, Iowa-The Eagles finished sixth overall at the Central College Under Armour Invitational Saturday in Iowa. Nathan Rankin and Corey Muniz finished as co-champs in the 125-pound class. Jerhett Lee was the runner-up in the 285 class. Ndayambaje John posted a fifth-place finish in the 174-pound class. 
  • No. 14 Central College Tops Eagles In Dual
    January 04, 2019
    Pella, Iowa-The Eagles traveled to Iowa to compete in the Central College Dual Friday night and suffered a 42-8 loss to the No. 14 team in NCAA III. Jerhett Lee started the dual at 285 and went ahead 3-1 against his opponent and eventually gave the Eagles a 3-0 advantage in the dual with the win. Corey Muniz wrestled at 125 and posted a tech fall and put the Eagles in front 8-0. Nathan Rankin battled at 133, but dropped the match on a decision. Central College then recorded a pinfall at 141 (Stephen Fox). Jaylen York (149) lost his match by a fall. Ny'Trell Dean (157) lost his fight by major decision. Jacob Sherrill (165) lost by a tech fall. Ndayambaje John lost by fall at 174. At 184, Kade McMahon dropped his match by a fall. Alejandro Ordonez followed with a loss by fall at 197. The Eagles will stay in Pella to compete in the Central Under Armour Invitational Saturday.
  • Eagles Top Nebraska Wesleyan In Dual

    Lincoln, Nebraska-The Eagles traveled to Nebraska for three matches and came out with an impressive 36-14 win over host Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Eagles won six of their first seven matches against NWU, including Nathaneal Rankin (133, Fall 3:29), Stephen Fox (141, Dec 6-5), Jaylen York (141, TF 22-6 6:17), Ny'Trell Dean (157, Fall 0:55), Jacob Sherrill (165, forfeit) and Siaygnoun Nhamnhouane (174, MD 19-8). Jerhett Lee (285) completed the match with a win over Justin Hennessy (Fall 2:19). Later in the day, the Eagles fell to Buena Vista (38-14) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (46-9). Against Buena Vista, Corey Muniz won against Byron Fleming (MD 16-6) and Rankin topped Nate Vento (Fall 3:00). Lee posted a win over Kevin Pape (MD 13-2). Against Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Rankin had a win over Jack Marley (Dec 13-12) and Muniz defeated Thomas Severson (Fall 2:20).
